It’s official: JunkTheory is 1 year old! 🎉 We’ve had an amazing first year bringing you clean, effective skincare that’s not only good for your skin but also good for the planet. From day one, we’ve been on a mission to reduce plastic waste in the beauty industry, and now we’re taking that mission to the next level.
We’re beyond excited to announce our new partnership with The 5 Gyres Institute (5 Gyres), a leading nonprofit that fights plastic pollution worldwide. Together, we’ll continue advocating for sustainable beauty, pushing for eco-friendly aluminum packaging, and educating the world on the environmental impact of plastic. This collaboration is a huge milestone, not just for JunkTheory, but for the entire beauty industry!
Why 5 Gyres? 🌊
When we founded JunkTheory, we wanted to go further than just offering clean skincare. After a life-changing trip to Jakarta, where we saw floating islands of plastic, we knew we had to take action. Partnering with 5 Gyres, an organization that’s dedicated to creating a plastic-free future, just makes sense. We’re looking forward to teaming up on educational campaigns and events aimed at helping consumers understand the benefits of aluminum packaging over harmful plastic, and together push for systemic change across the beauty industry. We’re also excited to coordinate a screening of their powerful documentary on plastic pollution (called JUNK) —an eye-opener for anyone who’s still on the fence about switching to sustainable products.
